Abandoned Amusement Parks

1.) I'd really like to go to the ScreePark in Berlin, Germany. I really liked the variety that was provided with the amount of rides. I also really like how the ferris wheel is next to the little pond with a broken down swan boat next to it. The overgrown look of everything was really interesting and I think that it would be really cool to shoot. 2.) 3.) Five other unusual places that would be interesting to photographers       1- Abandoned aquarium        2- An empty school       3- An abandoned factory         4- a metal shop where they weld and forge       5- a landfill 4.) 5.)I think it would be really cool to shoot in an abandoned aquarium since the light through the glass in the exhibits would look strange and alien. Nature taking over would be cool as well, as would be finding any fish left behind-alive of course. I'd probably take pictures that would play with the lighting as well as simplicity. 6.) To shoot in this location Id have to bring on

Africa - Nick Brandt

Image
1.) I really like Nick Brandt's perspective on taking pictures on the African savannah, where he wants to include the sky and the land instead of just focusing on the animal. I was unnerved when he mentioned not taking pictures for weeks at a time because that would stress me out since I would feel really unproductive. I really liked how calm his photos were, and how they're really strong yet quiet. 2.)       petrified flamingo   3.) What I really liked about this picture was that it looks like a regular bird just sitting on a lake, and thats what I though it was until I clicked on the image. I was't ready for the fascinating disgust I would feel, and that's what inclined me to choose this picture. 4.) A rule of composition that I found was balance, since the reflection of the flaming balances out the photo. 5.) Nick uses a Pentax 67 with a modified lens which creates a soft focus effect. 6.) His reason for taking these photos is so that he can capture the si

Warm Up 10/18/17

1.) As I worked through these photos I felt really happy as they took really cute pictures of each other, but then slowly as the wife withered away and eventually died, it was really sad and defeating. 2.) When the words " These photographs do not define us, but they are us," are said, it makes me think that her cancer and his journey of supporting her through it isn't  what they want to be or what they think of themselves as, but it's what they are. 3.) I don't think i could shoot photos if I myself were in this situation, although I like to think I could. The feeling and amount of emotion behind each picture would just be too much to bear if I had a personal relationship with the subject. 4.) If I could write the husband, Angelo, a letter, I'd let him know that what he did was created a really beautiful tribute to his wife, and that his pictures tell a really powerful unforgettable story.

Great Black and White Photograph III- Harry Callahan

Image
1.)  What caught my eye about these photos was that they were natural candids, of people in their day to day lives. I liked the stark contrast of the bottom photo with the shadows and light, and the softness of the top picture where the horizon can barely be seen. 2.) I see fog and water, glinting cars and walking people. The sunlight bouncing off the cars into my eyes is almost too distracting. The fog shrouds the water and the horizon, and I can't see for more than 50 feet. I hear the water washing on the shore, the tires against the pavement. The soft push and pull of the water against the sand rushes in my ears. The mixture of breaks screeching and tires slowly rolling over the tenured road. I feel the cold water and humidity, the sun beating down and stale air. The fog smothers me with humidity, placing pressure on my chest. The sun beats down on my skin and the stale dry air dries it out. I taste salt and sandalwood, iron and bread. The salt put on the tip of my to

Mural Project Preview

1.) Maybe we could take pictures under the theme of neighborhood, of the different side walks and roads, how people's yards look, and how the houses look against the sky. 2.) When out shooting we will have to think about the Aperture to decide what' in focus, the shutter speed to stop any swaying plants or flags, and how the texture in the pictures will turn out with the ISO 3.) We could make another blog to post the picture mural on, an Instagram account with the individual pictures, or a Facebook page.

ISO

ISO 200 vs ISO 3200 1.) The advantage of using a higher ISO in a spot event means the you can get rid of the motion blur that would occur if you took the picture at a lower ISO. 2.) The author suggested that you should use a low Iso when you have good lighting or if you have slow subjects. 3.) The author suggested that you should use a higher ISO when the subjects are fast or if the lighting isn't very good.
