Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique


1.) It was hard to find subjects that were interesting or that had an appealing composition so I struggled to take pictures that I personally really liked. The majority of the classes were doing the same ting, silent work/reading in a badly lit room or group work where the kids would just be on their phones.

2.)I really thought about the angle the picture was taken in, like if it was from a birds eye, worms eye, or eye level picture. In one of my photos for example, I got behind the lever for the emergency shower in the science room and took a picture that framed the classroom in the triangle.

3.)I would focus more on simplicity, since I don't really have a lot of that in any of my photos, and I really like the effect it has on the subjects of pictures.

4.) I would continue to keep using the same type of subjects, because I really like taking pictures of people in their day to day lives.

5.) The rule that will be the easiest for me to achieve will probably be rule of thirds, since all you have to do is move the camera a little and then you have the rule in effect.

6.) The rule that will be the hardest to capture will probably be balance, since I struggle with finding balance in my pictures and composition.

7.)Avoiding mergers is the hardest to capture, because it's the rule I really struggle with in a crowded classroom, where theres students and desks every two feet. Not to mention I was till unsure what was a merger and what wasn't. I knew cutting some face off was a merger, But was having the legs of a chair coming out of the side of the picture was one I was unsure of.

1.) I really like the action being portrayed as well as her subjects in Brenna's photos, it really brings the pictures an exciting feel to them.
2.)I think one thing that can be improved is the placement of some of the subjects and the focus of the camera, as the first picture is out of focus, but this hard to control since the subject is spraying a fire extinguisher.

HDR Preview

1. What manipulations to the camera will you need to make to create an HDR image? You need to take several pictures both above and below the correct exposure. 2. What equipment will we use to take this type of image? We will be using a tripod and a DSLR camera 3. What is the reason someone might take an HDR image? So that we can accurately capture the lights and darks in an image, making it similar to what the eye can see. 4. What can we expect to happen with the images once we merge them together, what will we see that we might not have seen with just one photo? We will see the different levels of light and dark, being able to make out things that we wouldn't have been able to with just a singular picture.
